Dilip Massand

Senior Advisor

Dilip Massand is a Senior Advisor to Generation Transition Advisors. Dilip’s understanding of families and the management of their assets and enterprises spans multiple arenas.

Dilip is the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Phoenix Advisors, an Abu Dhabi Global Markets based Single Family Office firm focused on alternative investments in Emerging Markets and Receivable Financing in the United States. Phoenix also advises US, European, and Indian companies and investors on entering the GCC Markets, and GCC entities on accessing the US and Indian markets.

A lawyer by training, Dilip is also Of Counsel to MSF Law, a US Law Firm, where he works closely with The Trusts and Estates, Real Estate, and Disputes practices to assist Families in preserving their wealth, businesses, and US investments through generational transfer and to manage and resolve US linked disputes for International Clients.

Dilip also has a more personal understanding of family businesses. After graduating from Law School, he started his career as the General counsel of his Family’s Civil Engineering and Construction Management firms, subsequently leading the Group’s global expansion from the United States to the Middle East and India, and diversifying the Family’s interests into Media and Consulting services. Eventually, Dilip led the restructuring of the businesses, winding down overseas operations, closing and selling specific assets in the US, and then ultimately branching out on his own.

Mr. Massand’s life and career have spanned the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East, and the US since he was 6 months old. Moving from Mumbai to New York as an infant, he was raised in the United States, but spent every Summer in India until he was 15.

He holds a Juris Doctor in Comparative Constitutional Law from New York Law School, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Boston University. He is a member of the New York State Bar Association, ABANA (formerly the Arab Bankers Association of North America), and a Charter Member of TiE Dubai (The Indus Entrepreneurs). Mr. Massand serves on the Advisory Boards of New York Law School’s Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee and Education for Employment – a non-profit focused on creating jobs for Arab Youth. He is also a Senior Advisor to Alvarez & Marsal’s Sovereign Wealth and Infrastructure Practice groups. He currently divides his time between New York City and Dubai.
